How to prepare Matcha (without whisk)?

The quick way

Required Equipment
A cup you love and a electric milk foamer ideally a stationary milk foamer.
MeasuringShake a teaspoon of matcha gently until the matcha is slightly heaped (approx. 1 - 3 g).
We recommend starting with a small amount and adjusting the amount the next time according to taste.
(Sifting)With a powerful milk foamer and some help with a spoon usually no sifting is needed. Remember not to put Matcha into the fridge ones it is opened, to prevent the powder of agglomarating.WhiskingPour 200 ml of hot water between 70°C and 80°C into the preheated milk frother. Add the matcha and use a spoon to direct the liquid onto the whisk so that the tea can froth up well.EnjoyingTake a moment to savor the delightful aroma before drinking your Matcha. The deep umami flavor, vibrant green color, and creamy texture will make your Matcha experience truly unforgettable.

The traditional way

Required Equipment
A traditional Matcha bowl (Chawan), a bamboo whisk (Chasen), a bamboo scoop (Chashaku), and a sieve (Furui)
Preparation
Soak the bamboo whisk in hot water (5 - 10 min) directly in the matcha bowl to make the bamboo flexible and to preheat the bowl.
Preheat bowl after if necessary.
DRY the matcha bowl.
MeasuringUsing the bamboo scoop, measure the desired amount of Matcha powder
(1 - 3 Chashaku scoops, approx. 1 - 3 grams).
We recommend starting with 1 g and adjusting the amount according to taste next time.
SiftingSift the Matcha powder into your Matcha bowl to ensure it is free of lumps and fine enough.WhiskingAdd a small amount of hot water between 70°C and 80°C to the sifted Matcha in the bowl.Use the bamboo whisk to vigorously whisk the Matcha in a "M" shaped motion and slowly add water until it becomes creamy and frothy. This step is crucial for developing the characteristic Matcha foam and flavor.EnjoyingTake a moment to savor the delightful aroma before drinking your Matcha. The deep umami flavor, vibrant green color, and creamy texture will make your Matcha experience truly unforgettable.

HARU Matcha ceremonial tea

HARU Matcha represents the highest level of ceremonial Matcha grades. In Europe, it is known as ‘premium’ quality.
The tea leaves are specially selected to bring out its pleasant, natural, sweet flavour, which is associated with the taste of high-quality, traditional Japanese matcha.
Whether as a pure matcha drink, a matcha latte or ice cream, this natural and balanced blend of floral, sweet flavours is ideal for preparing high-quality drinks and treats.

The higher the quality of the tea leaves, the more vivid green will be the color of the matcha. Our producer uses the top four leaves that sprout by the twentieth day of shading, when the leaves are highest in quality. They mill and pack the Matcha only upon receipt of our order, just before shipment, ensuring delivering the freshest Matcha.

We work with a very health and safety conscious farm and producer who gets all their raw materials for their teas tested for pesticides, radiation and heavy metals, harvest by harvest, at Eurofins Scientific, one of Europe's strictest product safety testing centers, before they are used in processing the Matcha and distributing.

HARU Matcha is cultivated without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. It grows in nutrient-rich volcanic soil, providing all the essential nutrients for high-quality Matcha. In spring, prolonged periods of fog naturally shade the tea plants, enhancing the production of rich compounds and flavors.HARU Matcha is exclusively produced from the first spring harvest, when phytochemicals and flavor are at their peak.

From 'Coffee Snob' to Matcha Lover

I am Büşra und this is my husband Sinan. We live in Zurich and have a little baby girl.
I have to admit that we're coffee lovers. Our friends call us 'coffee snobs'.
One day we decided to find something better for our metabolism. Something that energizes us without the rollercoaster-effect that coffee has. During a Startup Weekend event we met Monica. She introduced us to exactly this ceremonial matcha of premium quality that we're selling here at HARU matcha. My husband was immediately in love with it! We've ordered a big batch from Japan, and he started to drink it every day. He loved the taste and felt much more energetic after replacing coffee with this matcha tea for some time.
I personally was hesitant. I never liked matcha, no matter where I tried it. It tasted bitter, like gras, and had a weird dark green color.
One day he said "This one is really different. Even its color is different. It's vivid green. You have to try it!
I'll prepare one for you. If you don't like it you don't have to drink it. More for me :)"
I tried. And loved it, too!
We offered this tea to our friends, too, when they visited us. They liked it so much that they wanted some bags too, for a fee of course. And there we thought: "Hey, this is so tasty, we need to share this in Switzerland!" So, we've launched this shop.

Are we drinking it every day now, and have we replaced coffee entirely?
Honestly, my husband drinks it every day. He has a very quick way of preparing it that tastes and looks original with a perfectly smooth, vivid-green foam. Perfect for home-office-life! I myself drink it every second-third day. We haven't replaced coffee entirely but we don't drink coffee every day anymore.
What we love most is that we have a selection now.
Because we've found a matcha tea that we can enjoy as much as we enjoy drinking coffee.
